HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtas says in Italian television channel hosting him results in job-loss
On 21 April 2016, Italian government broadcasting agency Rai 3 interviewed Turkey’s HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) co-chair Selahattin Demirtas. During the interview, when Demirtas was asked to describe democracy and freedom of press in Turkey, he claimed that “no influential TV channel in Turkey can build the courage to interview me like you are doing right now; he/she would lose his/her job next day.”1
Contrary to what Demirtas said on the Italian television channel, he has appeared on 10 Turkish national TV channels since 2015. These channels include Star TV, Fox, CNN Turk, Mednuce, Ozgur Gun TV, Bugun TV, IMC, Bestanuce, Hayat TV and Sky360.
