On the night of 15 July 2016, FETO-linked soldiers launched a coup attempt, killed 246 people, 179 of which were civilians, and wounded thousands. They also bombed Turkey’s Grand National Assembly several times along with many other state buildings and tried to assasinate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan but missed him by minutes. The international media mostly supported the coup plotters and put the blame on President Erdogan for "bringing the coup on himself". Here is a list of the examples:

1. Norman Stone wrote in The Times that “army colonels, seeing themselves as guardians of the nation, grousing in the mess at the growth of a religious-minded obscurantism that pushes their daughters into silly shapeless clothes and stops them from having a beer, must somehow have been prodded into the stupidity of a mistimed coup.”

2. The Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) co-chair Figen Yuksekdag told  Bild that “Erdogan is launching coup against the opposition. We are so close to civil war.”

3. Turkish journalist Ezgi Basaran wrote in the Washington Post that “Defeating the coup in Turkey won’t lead to more democracy”

4. The Daily Mirror called the brutal coup attempt an ‘uprising’: “More than 200 died in the uprising which aimed to topple dictatorial President Recep Erdogan - and 1,500 were injured.”

5. Kemal Kirisci, the Turkey Project Director at the Brookings Institution, wrote that “Post-coup Turkey is drifting away from democracy—and it could be a real problem for the West”

6. Amid the failed Turkey coup attempt, “Erdogan could tighten his grip further if Turkey's military coup fails” tweeted Business Insider

7. Another tweet by Ian Bremmer said “Presuming they [coup plotters] fail, Erdogan authoritarianism gets a lot stronger.”

8. Calling the people resisting the coup attempt “violent mobs” in her article in the New York Times, Gonul Tol said that those ‘who responded to Erdogan’s call to take to the streets against the coup plotters are now sanctioned as ‘protecting democracy’ by the president and will be reluctant to give up on their newfound status as ‘national heroes’ “

9. “They [coup plotters] made two massive errors: They did not kill President Erdogan. That is the first thing you should do,” Tim Marshall lamented on BBC

10. Sebastian Gorka expressed concern on Fox News over that the “good guys lost” after the Turkey coup attempt was thwarted.

11. John Oliver made no mention of the 246 people brutally killed by putschists and called Turkey "diet Syria" while mocking the attempted coup

12. Vienna International Airport hectored about Turkey via its tickers: "Travelling to Turkey will only support Erdogan"

13. Germany banned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from addressing a rally in Cologne via video-conference while it allowed Murat Karayilan to address via video-conference a huge crowd gathered in a stadium in Cologne. Karayilan is a commander of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an armed organization listed as terrorist by Turkey, the US, the EU and NATO.
